Living at home has given me a sense of security. When you look back, my life really hasn’t been that hard at all. I don’t really do anything all day except eat, watch Hulu, work on my site, think about life, and do a few chores around the house.

That’s what I do. That’s my life. On one hand, it’s good. On the other hand it’s not. I’m certainly not living up to my fullest potential. I’ve achieved a decent level of success. I’m getting closer towards my dreams.

But that final push needs to come from a leap of faith…in myself. I do believe in myself. But must absolutely, 100% trust myself in order to take this next step.

I’ve LET things happen to me. I let my father buy me a car. I let him pay for all my loans and bills and what not. Well, not anymore. I mean, I know he loves me.

But sooner or later I will have to stand up on my own. And that final stand must come through words. Through actions. I can’t just sit here and think anymore.

I need to tell him what’s on my mind. What my life goals are. What my plans are. And it’s going to be today, March 18, 2010. Wish me luck.

I have a really important announcement! I have slightly modified my life goals. These were my previous goals:

Make $150 per day through ShahTraining.com

Purchase Property and Move to India

Sell Full Length Feature Screenplay

Start Indian Cinematic Journal

Start a Family

Here is my modified list:

Make $5000 per month through ShahTraining.com – I’ve decided that it’s mentally better to approach affiliate marketing through a month by month basis, then a day by day or even week by week basis.

Start Internet Marketing Consulting Business – At least 2-3 people each day ask me questions regarding internet marketing. I think it’s about time I use this influence to start my own business.

Move out of the house – I think it’s better if I move out of the house first before I move to India. I’ll be able to learn to live on my own first.

Sell Full Length Feature Screenplay – Once I have money flowing in from two directions (website + consulting), and I have the peace and relaxation of living away from my noisy family, I can focus all my energy on writing my screenplay

Purchase Property and Move to India – Once I sell my screenplay, I’ll have enough dough to actually make the India dream possible

Start Indian Cinematic Journal – This is just another website idea I had. Not fully developed yet

Start a family – Yes, find a nice Indian girl, settle down, and have 5 kids.

I’ve printed this list out and posted it four times in my room. One list is posted on the outside of my door, so anyone passing by would be able to read it. It’s time I try to explain to my family what I want to do with my life.

“Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination.” – Oscar Wilde, Irish dramatist and novelist

I just came back from my cousin’s wedding in North Carolina. It was certainly an intersting experience. For the first time in my life, I was exposed to a church wedding. Kinda scary, but nonetheless educational.

As I was coming back on the plane ride and trains, I realized how I almost didn’t go. If I didn’t go, I would have missed out on a lot. Aside from the actual wedding, I had a great time. For example, the first night, we met up my cousin at a small club and were there pretty late.

I didn’t realize it buy I actually got drunk. It wasn’t as bad as I thought. I was with good company, everyone I trusted, so it was actually quite fun. But, still, won’t be doing that again. It was one of those things that you do once in your life, and you’re good to go.

Just as I probably will never go into a church ever again. Not my cup of tea. Well, I don’t even like going to a Jain temple, so makes sense. But the point is that I would have missed out on my meeting my cousins, my aunts, and uncles.

I would have missed on seeing one of my other cousin’s huge property. I would have missed out on staying in a hotel room. I would have missed out on lots of good Indian food. And I would have missed out on the garba.

So, anyways all I’m saying is that I feel like I am missing out on a lot by not being more out going. I have lots of opportunities to do “stuff” that I just don’t take. I should take them. But more importantly, I’ve been just sitting around for the most part waiting for something to happen.

I need to be even more proactive in achieving my dreams.

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” – Mark Twain

I don’t think I’ve ever found my self on the side of the majority. I’ve always been a non-conformist. But I don’t do things differently just because I don’t wish to fit in. But in fact I do things differently just because I want to.

That’s how it should be. Why should anyone tell me what to do? It’s my life, and it’s my decision to do as I wish to do. One of the biggest reasons why I’ve chosen to focus so much time and energy on Shah Training and Affiliate Marketing is because of my pursuit of freedom.

Freedom is the ability to determine action without restraint. I want absolute freedom. Freedom from parents. Freedom from a boss. Freedom from government. Look, I understand that we all need laws and government for protection.

But I don’t like the idea of someone controlling every little aspect of my life. And unfortunately, that is the direction this country is heading. But even then, the real reason why I want to leave this country is two-fold:

1 – I don’t want to give away 30% of my earnings to the government, and

2 – 1 U.S. Dollar = 50 Rupees.

At the end of the day, that means more money in my pocket, and more freedom from my struggles.

So, with that said, lets take a look at my progress for the past few weeks:

As you can see, my weeks start on Wednesdays. I was almost able to break $100 last week. For about 10 days, I went without a single sale. During those 10 days I was following the advice of Mr. Ewen Chia.

Yeah, I did buy his latest product. There were some great ideas in there that I just needed to try. Too bad they didn’t work. Thats why I’ve decided from now on I’m only going to listen to my own head.

Think about it, the week I followed Mr. Chia’s advice I only made $23. Once I stopped following his advice, my sales went up. This isn’t the first time this has happened. I’m just going to stop listening to all these so called “Guru’s”

Ok, so what I realized was that with one of my products, Gladiator Body Workout. The conversion rate is 1/135. Not bad. The average commission for each sale is $22.60. So, if I want to break $100, I need to send at least 600 people to the Gladiator Body Workout sales page.

So, that’s exactly what I’ll be working on this week. This is going to be difficult, because my site only gets around 300-400 hits per day. I’ll spend today trying to figure out how to generate the traffic.

My goals for ShahTraining.com have changed steadily since February 2007, when I first started blogging seriously. At first, I wanted to create a website to promote myself as a personal trainer. Then I decided I wanted to focus on Online Personal Training.

But somewhere along the line, and partly due to me reading “The Four Hour Work Week” by Timothy Ferris, I became addicted to Internet marketing. I loved the idea that I could be making money with limited to no work.

Of course, this is a long term goal. But the money making potential is what’s keeping me going. The goal is not to become a millionaire. A million dollars is nothing if you have not time to spend it. I do not want to work 100 hours a week for my money.

As I mentioned a while back in another post, people measure success as how much they make per year, month, or week. When in fact what you need to be measuring is how much you make per hour. So lets say two guys are making a $100,00 per year.

One guy works 100 hours per week, or 5200 hours per year. The other guy is working 40 hours per week, or 2,080 hours per year. Guy 1 is making around $20 per hour, while guy 2 is making around $48 per hour.

So guy 2 probably has the weekends to spend his money, plus he may have less travel and Starbucks expenses than Guy 1. But, we want to be Guy 3. Guy 3 makes $60,000 per year, but works less than 10 hours per week.

He makes $115 per hour. The rest of his time is spent doing things he loves: practicing martial arts, hanging out with friends, trying to learn a new language, working out, starting up other projects, visiting his parents, etc.

So, what are my goals for ShahTraining.com now? Really simple: develop my site to a point where I’m making a steady $100 – $300 per day. Then I can finally start living the life I want to live without listening to anyone else.

Right now I’m make $16.25 per day through my website (which is more than most people make online). It may seem like a huge jump between $16 and $100, but it’s not. The thing with Internet Marketing is that it’s easy to scale, once you realize what’s working for you.

3) PPC to Landing Page – Spent a few bucks, but not really good data.

I would stick to article marketing as the best way to generate sales. You can do a lot more testing without spending a penny…except for a hosting and domain name, but you don’t even need to that if you use a squidoo lens as your landing page.

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” – Mark Twain

I do a lot of reflecting, even though I rarely ever find myself on the side of the majority. I hate being like other people. There was only one moment in my life that I tried really hard to fit in and I hated it. It caused me a lot of emotional pain and proved to me that the worst thing you can do for yourself is to try to be like other people.

What I’m trying to do for myself, not many people are trying to do. In high school, when kids were thinking about what college they wanted to go to (like your SUPPOSED to), I was thinking about finishing up my first novel.

In college, when most people were either busy goofing off or thinking about a career in some large corporation, I was working on finishing up my feature length screenplay and thinking about how I could avoid working 9-5.

It’s AMAZING to be Different

I think differently than the majority of people out there. Recently, I was contacted by one of Internet Marketer John Denton’s sales people who was offering me a coaching service. He said, “We usually do not work with people your age, because kids your age aren’t thinking about creating something on their own.”

I find it really funny that we’re taught that we should first get a job, then pursue our dreams later, when we’re more “experienced” and “financially secure.” But who has actually done that? Most people, after working for just 12 months, will often just say, “Well, I like the stability, I’ll just stay where I am.”

Another thing that people don’t realize is that it takes about the same amount of time and struggle to do something you love and do something you don’t love. For example, lets just say your dream is to become a writer but instead you end up going to med school, just because you’re thinking money and stability.

Put a VALUE on the STRUGGLE

In order to become a writer, you’re going to have to struggle a lot, and face a lot of rejection. One of the greatest writers in bollywood, Javed Akhtar, struggled for five years before getting his first break. I don’t really know what it takes to become a doctor, but I’m guessing 4 years of pre-med, 3-4 years of med school, then 1-2 years of residency? So, 5 years struggling to become a writer as opposed to around 10 years struggling to become a doctor? Plus, you’re faced with all those student loans and you’re doing something you don’t particularly enjoy?

Now which one seems more appealing?

I’m not bashing doctors. I saw a doctor last week who clearly enjoyed the path she had chosen in her life. But, I’ve just bee meeting too many people recently who are completely unhappy with their place in life, and its really sad.

Life is about ADVENTURE

Break down the numbers. Don’t just look at things in dollar signs. Life isn’t about stability, it’s about becoming the best that you can be. Making money is easy, making money and having fun is the hard part.

I guess most people still won’t listen to me, since I’m not making a “steady” income. But I’m getting there. Right now I’m at 100 per week working at home. That call of freedom is getting closer and closer. How long do you think it will take me to scale my business to a point where I’m making 100 dollars a day….or a 100 dollars a minute without a boss or any employees? Now that’s magical.
