Single-Product Landing Pages work Better than Blog Format for Affiliate Marketing

“Always do the right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.” – Mark Twain (1835-1910)

It’s been a while since I’ve done an update on my Clickbank stats. But that’s because the numbers haven’t been very good. Here are the numbers for the past few weeks:

screen-capture-3

As you can see, there’s been a dramatic improvement in my sales for the past two weeks. It has to do with a brand new website I started,WorkoutWithouyWeights.net (WWW). On WWW, I promote only one product: Bodyweight Blueprint for Fat Loss (BBFL).

BBFL is a $77 product. Yes, I know. Never would I have thought that you can sell a $77 digital product online. But you can, and the product converts better than a lot of my lower end products. Just take a glance at these stats:

Bodyweight Blueprint for Fat Loss
($77)

Average $ per sale: $48.44
Hops per order: 1/86
Hops need to get $200 = 355

Gladiator Body Workout ($27 for basic, $47 for combo)

Average $ per sale: $20.52
Hops per order: 1/67
Hops need to get $200 = 653

Average Joe Workout ($6)

Average $ per sale: $3.41
Hops per order: 1/58
Hops need to get $200 = 3402

Workout Without Weights ($19.95 for basic, $47 for combo)

Average $ per sale: $8.90
Hops per order: 1/169
Hops need to get $200 =3798

So, right off the bat we see that BBFL converts better than Workout Without Weights. Both are bodyweight training products, but Workout Without Weights costs $57.05 less thanBBFL. And my chunk of commission is much bigger for BBFL than Workout Without Weights, hence I need to send less traffic to BBFL’s sales page in order to reach  my target income.

As you can see, last week I was extremely close to reaching my target income. If I stick to the plan, I should be able to hit it this week.

Why I stopped Working on Shah Training

Two weeks ago I realized the biggest fault with Shah Training: too much stuff going on. I was trying to promote almost 10 different products, plus build up a mailing list. It was just too many things. Hence, I experimented with creating a single site with just one page and one product.

Simple, and to the point. I’m sending traffic through ezine articles, primarily. However, I’m not 100% sure if the sales are coming from ezine articles readers. I’m also sending traffic through PPC. Here’s the main difference between PPC and EzineArticles: Targeted Traffic

You can create campaigns where the traffic is extremely targeted to the kind of market that you want with PPC. So far, I’ve only had a few clicks from PPC to my site. So I’m not spending a whole lot of money on PPC overall. But, on days were I turn PPC off, I have absolutely no sales.

So for this week, I need to design some sort of experiment that will really help me understand where the traffic is coming from that are converting into sales. The reason this is important to know is because I am now spending $97 per month as anezinearticles premium member.

That means that my articles get approved faster, hence sending me more traffic to my site. But if the traffic isn’t converting, then I’m just wasting my time and money.

Still Pursuing Freedom

Sep 17 2009 Published by Parth under Daily Reflection, Shah Training Plan

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” – Mark Twain

I don’t think I’ve ever found my self on the side of the majority. I’ve always been a non-conformist. But I don’t do things differently just because I don’t wish to fit in. But in fact I do things differently just because I want to.

That’s how it should be. Why should anyone tell me what to do? It’s my life, and it’s my decision to do as I wish to do. One of the biggest reasons why I’ve chosen to focus so much time and energy on Shah Training and Affiliate Marketing is because of my pursuit of freedom.

Freedom is the ability to determine action without restraint. I want absolute freedom. Freedom from parents. Freedom from a boss. Freedom from government. Look, I understand that we all need laws and government for protection.

But I don’t like the idea of someone controlling every little aspect of my life. And unfortunately, that is the direction this country is heading. But even then, the real reason why I want to leave this country is two-fold:

1 – I don’t want to give away 30% of my earnings to the government, and

2 – 1 U.S. Dollar = 50 Rupees.

At the end of the day, that means more money in my pocket, and more freedom from my struggles.

So, with that said, lets take a look at my progress for the past few weeks:

screen-capture-2As you can see, my weeks start on Wednesdays. I was almost able to break $100 last week. For about 10 days, I went without a single sale. During those 10 days I was following the advice of Mr. Ewen Chia.

Yeah, I did buy his latest product. There were some great ideas in there that I just needed to try. Too bad they didn’t work. Thats why I’ve decided from now on I’m only going to listen to my own head.

Think about it, the week I followed Mr. Chia’s advice I only made $23. Once I stopped following his advice, my sales went up. This isn’t the first time this has happened. I’m just going to stop listening to all these so called “Guru’s”

Ok, so what I realized was that with one of my products, Gladiator Body Workout. The conversion rate is 1/135. Not bad. The average commission for each sale is $22.60. So, if I want to break $100, I need to send at least 600 people to the Gladiator Body Workout sales page.

So, that’s exactly what I’ll be working on this week. This is going to be difficult, because my site only gets around 300-400 hits per day. I’ll spend today trying to figure out how to generate the traffic.

Clickbank Sales are Back Up

Allright guys, so I had a great week with clickbank. Total income this past week was $127.31

Screenshot:

Total sales this week: 8

Goals for this week:

  • Make 18 Sales (2-3 sales per day)

Where did sales come from?

  • 4 came from Mailing List
  • 4 came from SEO

Now that I have a better understanding where my sales are coming from, I can create a better plan of action. I recieved a total of 2,827 hits this past week. If 2,827 hits brings me 8 sales, then I need around 6,360 hits to bring in 18 sales.

My conversion rate is still around .2-.3% Still pretty bad, but I’m not sure what else I can do to find a more targeted audience. So, I’ll focus on amazing content, and increased traffic.

6,360 hits per week is equal to around 908 hits per day. In essence, I’m trying to double my traffic. How? SEO. My SEO is powerful, so I’ll be pumping out a ton of content targeting some brand new keywords.

I’m not dealing with article marketing anymore. Lets focus on what’s working.

The Importance of Automation: Why I’ve Changed Goals for ShahTraining.com

Jul 20 2009 Published by Parth under Blogging, Daily Reflection, Shah Training Plan

My goals for ShahTraining.com have changed steadily since February 2007, when I first started blogging seriously. At first, I wanted to create a website to promote myself as a personal trainer. Then I decided I wanted to focus on Online Personal Training.

But somewhere along the line, and partly due to me reading “The Four Hour Work Week” by Timothy Ferris, I became addicted to Internet marketing. I loved the idea that I could be making money with limited to no work.

Of course, this is a long term goal. But the money making potential is what’s keeping me going. The goal is not to become a millionaire. A million dollars is nothing if you have not time to spend it. I do not want to work 100 hours a week for my money.

As I mentioned a while back in another post, people measure success as how much they make per year, month, or week. When in fact what you need to be measuring is how much you make per hour. So lets say two guys are making a $100,00 per year.

One guy works 100 hours per week, or 5200 hours per year. The other guy is working 40 hours per week, or 2,080 hours per year. Guy 1 is making around $20 per hour, while guy 2 is making around $48 per hour.

So guy 2 probably has the weekends to spend his money, plus he may have less travel and Starbucks expenses than Guy 1. But, we want to be Guy 3. Guy 3 makes $60,000 per year, but works less than 10 hours per week.

He makes $115 per hour. The rest of his time is spent doing things he loves: practicing martial arts, hanging out with friends, trying to learn a new language, working out, starting up other projects, visiting his parents, etc.

So, what are my goals for ShahTraining.com now? Really simple: develop my site to a point where I’m making a steady $100 – $300 per day. Then I can finally start living the life I want to live without listening to anyone else.

Right now I’m make $16.25 per day through my website (which is more than most people make online). It may seem like a huge jump between $16 and $100, but it’s not. The thing with Internet Marketing is that it’s easy to scale, once you realize what’s working for you.

What Could You Invest In For Better Results with Affiliate Marketing?

I’m still not sure what the best investment is in terms of promoting a product, but I can share with you some results I’ve had with PPC. I’ve used PPC in the three following ways:

1) PPC direct to Affiliate – Spent $800 last year, made $100. Bad investment

2) PPC to Email Opt-in – Spend $35 per week, make $100 per week minimum. Good investment.

3) PPC to Landing Page – Spent a few bucks, but not really good data.

I would stick to article marketing as the best way to generate sales. You can do a lot more testing without spending a penny…except for a hosting and domain name, but you don’t even need to that if you use a squidoo lens as your landing page.

Please Take a Look at my Really Bad Landing Page

Jul 07 2009 Published by Parth under Email Marketing, Landing Page, Shah Training Plan

So, by the title you know that I can’t write a landing page, even if my life depended on it.

Most of my sales are coming from my mailing list. I’m really great at writing blog posts, then incorporating a call to action to get people to purchase a product.

However, I feel that the SEO traffic I’m getting is a missed opportunity and so I should at least try to either grab some emails or make some sales through SEO traffic.

I want to try to make some sales before I test out grabbing emails. Right now, I’m growing my mailing list through article marketing. My squeeze page right now has a 21.9% conversion rate.

So, here’s my current landing page: http://shahtraining.com/

Here’s my squeeze page for the opt in list: http://shahtraining.com/get-your-fre…orkout-manual/

Opt-in squeeze page will naturally convert better because of I’m giving away something for free. So, here are some questions i HAVE:

1) Should I keep the landing page as is right now?
2) Should I change the landing page and use the same format as the opt-in page?
3) Should I place the opt-in list as my front landing page, hence focus on just collecting emails?

Thank you for all the great advice I been getting recently. Any ideas would be appreciated.
